30 years in Bangladesh – towards a planned future
The proud 30-year journey of Plan International in Bangladesh, from inception to present day is detailed in this publication.
Since 1992, Plan International Bangladesh has aspired to create positive change by promoting girls’ and young women’s leadership. We are determined to support them to become drivers of change. At the core of our work, we integrate gender equality and inclusion to help create a just world where we are all equal.
Over the last 10 years, we have established ourselves as a key national and international actor within the region with a distinctive focus on and expertise in responding to the needs and rights of girls. Our core competencies are prevention of child marriage, education, sexual and reproductive health rights, child protection and girls’ economic empowerment.
We form multi-stakeholder partnerships to implement gender transformative programmes. Influencing, building resilience and humanitarian excellence are central to achieving our goals.
As Bangladesh faces frequent disasters and humanitarian crises that leave children and women vulnerable, we will continue to drive accountability to affected communities.
The national influencing priority of our country strategy 2020-2030 is challenging the fear of violence. Our target is to influence 36 million people with a special focus on children and young people up to 24 years old.
Through interventions in 3 thematic areas – child and youth leadership, girls’ and women’s economic development, and sexual and reproductive health rights – we will change 14 million girls’ and young women’s lives this decade.
We won’t stop until we are all equal.
