We woke up to the sound of guns and cannons

Supporting vulnerable children, especially girls, to live in resilient communities and have free, safe access to life-saving services during and after natural disasters and conflicts.
In times of emergency the ability of communities to keep children safe is weakened, exposing children to danger and abuse. During disasters and conflicts girls are among the most at risk as they face specific threats to their safety.
In response we are increasing our capacity to provide life-saving assistance. We are also supporting communities and local authorities to be prepared for and respond to emergencies. This includes promoting changes in attitudes, behaviors and practices around preparing for and responding to disasters. Our work also focuses on protecting the rights of girls as disaster situations accentuate existing inequalities.
