Stephen Omollo steps down as Plan International CEO
5 April 2024Plan International’s Board thanks outgoing CEO Stephen Omollo for his contribution and commitment to the organisation and reaffirms its ambition as the go-to global organisation for girls’ rights.

Plan International announces that Stephen Omollo will be leaving his current role as the CEO of the organisation in April 2024 due to personal reasons. Stephen Omollo joined the organisation in February 2022.
Gunvor Kronman, Board Chair of Plan International praised Stephen Omollo for his authentic leadership and service in furthering the mission of the organisation. She said, “During his tenure Stephen Omollo has led the organisation to deliver a new global strategy All Girls Standing Strong Creating Global Change which focuses on strengthening Plan’s position as the go-to organisation for girls’ rights and scaling up the organisation’s humanitarian response capacity.
“Stephen has played an instrumental role in championing localisation through our partner-centred approach, shifting power closer to the point of impact and making progress in our drive to be a youth-centred organisation.”
Stephen Omollo said, “I am deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to lead Plan International during a period of rapid external and internal change. I am proud of what we have achieved together over the past 2 years as a development and humanitarian organisation, responding in more countries and protecting the most vulnerable in crisis. I step away with great sense of having been part of a community of people committed to better the world for girls, boys and young people around the world.”
Plan International’s Board will begin a search for their next CEO, with an interim CEO to be announced in the coming weeks.
The global child rights and humanitarian organisation is active in over 80 countries and promotes the rights of the world’s most vulnerable children, especially girls. In the fiscal year 2023, Plan International raised €1 billion and reached over 22 million girls worldwide.
